Minutes of the Arlington Amateur Radio Club – October 18, 2011

President Norton called the meeting to order at about 8:15 PM. The minutes of the September 2011 meeting were approved. The Treasurer made his report. The club voted to reimburse expenses incurred in procuring a new Astron power supply for the club repeater.

Dennis reported that he was working on updating the Roanoke Section of the ARRL web site. It was estimated there are about 700 thousand radio amateurs in the United States.

Members reported that participation in the weekly club net continued to be good. The repeater continues to operate well. More radio amateurs are in training through the Arlington CERT program.

It was agreed that members would bring their handi-talkies to the November 15th meeting and discuss the characteristics of these radios. This will also be the election meeting.

Brian made a brief presentation about the payload of his amateur rocket. It contained a small beacon transmitter to aid in locating the payload after the payload returned to the ground.
