The June 17 meeting will be at the usual place--the Arlington County Chapter (ACC) of the American Red Cross. We'll continue planning for Field Day 2003, which will be June 28-29 (always the fourth full weekend of June). Mike, NW3V, will bring and demonstrate the WR9R Field Day logging software which we will probably use, again, at the high-volume operating positions. He'll also screen a short videotape, produced by former AARC member Joe, KJ4S, showing scenes from AARC Field Days 1997, 1998, and 1999.
Arlington Amateur Radio Club station W4WVP will participate in the annual Field Day contest Saturday, June 28 (starting 2pm EDT) and Sunday, June 29 (ending 2pm EDT), at its usual operating location at the Arlington Chapter of the American Red Cross. We invite the public to visit us during this emergency communications exercise, and to make contacts (have conversations) with other stations under the supervision of the licensed control operator.
This year we plan to operate as a Class F station. Class F is a new category consisting of stations operating at Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs), such as Red Cross and government EOCs.
Field Day 2002. We ranked 1 in class 8E.

Field Day 2001. We ranked 1 in class 11E.

Field Day 2000. We ranked 1 in class 9E.

Field Day 1999. We ranked 6 in class 3D.

Field Day 1998. We ranked 1 in class 8D.

Field Day 1997. We ranked 2 in class 4D.

Field Day 1996.

Field Day 1995.
President Jack WA4FXX called the meeting to order at 1935L at the Arlington Chapterhouse of the American Red Cross, and began with a round of introductions. Also attending were Alan KO4ALA, Jim K9AUC, John WD4MIS, George KR4MU, Mike KA8OPJ, Dennis W4PWF, Mike KG4RKL, James KD7SSM, KC7TNV, Keith KG4UIR, Mike NW3V, Jaskaran KG4YIQ, Dan N8YSZ, and Ian-Sterne-yet-to-be-licensed.
The minutes of the April meeting, as published on the webpage and distributed by e-mail, were approved and the treasurer's report was read. WD4MIS is now accepting annual dues payments and orders for Field Day T-shirts and pins.
W4PWF was disappointed on FCC's decisions on LF, 2.4GHz, and 5MHz. There was no FAR meeting; AutoCall is afloat. Volunteers for Fall-Fest please contact N3FKQ@arrl.net or consult www.fall-fest.com/volunteer.php.
NW3V reported on W4ZPQ's donation of triband beam/rotor, transceiver, and KW amplifier, and committee work in taking it down (W4ZPQ, NW3V, KT4EL, and KA8OPJ). Before dark the meeting will visit the antenna for any who wish to bid on it. Disposition of TXR, KW, and accessories pends further review. KT4EL will briefly have a used Cushcraft ATB-34 10m beam for the taking.
WA4FXX mentioned that Arlington County will e-mail or text mess-age notices of County emergencies. See the County website.
KO4ALA announced the NCAC Training Institute at Lee Center in S. Alexandria. See www.ncacdc.com for info.
Lisa Thompson will arrange for installation of squalos on ArlCoEEC, soon after the hiring freeze thaws, approx. 7/1. WA4FXX invited all to the 2m SSB net on 144.260 at 7 p.m. the last Wednesday of the month. Brief discussion on updating Chapterhouse 2m/70cm ants was tabled for measurements, but we currently have a free chimney.
N9AUC shared the new RACES message form ICS213.
KR4MU said that the Red Cross 47.42MHz transceiver moved upstairs to where it's more convenient for most users. The installations in ERVs and other vehicles are ongoing.
Ian was nominated for membership by W4PWF, seconded by KG4UIR, and unanimously welcomed into the fold.
A Field Day announcement will be mailed to GMRS licensees, in the hope that some may be curious about amateur radio. WA4FXX created a slick trifold notice for mailing. KR4MU again volunteered to cook, on an authorization of $75 (moved by KD7SSM/seconded by NW3V, unan).
Following adjournment at 8:53 we watched the video "Amateur Radio Today."
Respectfully submitted,
Mike KA8OPJ, Secretary
