The March 21 meeting of the Arlington Amateur Radio Club will be held at the usual time (1930L) and place (4333 Arlington Blvd). Dan Zeitland from the Potomac Valley Radio Club, the premier contesting club in the region if not the nation, will be talking on Amateur Radio Contesting. This is where you can compete nationally and internationally with 2 or 3000 other hams on a relatively level playing field. In what other sport can you play against the very best?
Hope to see everyone there!
73,
--Adam, KG4VNC, AARC Secretary
ARES nets:
Web updates: Due to popular demand, there is now an application form for the club on the web site- on the right hand navigation bar under the "Legal Information" section. This can be filled out and either printed or submitted online, in which case it is mailed to the club officers.
Virginia QSO Party: Preparations are currently under way for the club's participation in the Virginia QSO Party. Hopefully by the 3/21 meeting we'll have some idea about the scores and how everything went. The club station will be open on Sunday 3/19 for anyone who wants to operate, starting at noon. On Saturday Adam/kg4vnc and Dan/n8ysz (at least) are planning on operating as W4WVP/P from the Hogwallow Flats Overlook in Shenandoah National Park. Everything is all set for two stations (VHF/UHF and HF), including two antennas and all the supporting equipment. Anyone else who wants to come down and operate Saturday, between 1pm and 4 or 5pm, please let us know! As usual, thanks to the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club/SPARC for putting this together again!
Mike/NW3V forwarded an article about the "Best Radio for EmCom", and John/AF4PD commented that he would vote against Yaesu ft-8800 since it was too complex.
