Events since the March Meeting

AI4GO Antenna: We had a huge turn-out on the ninth to get Roy's antenna up in the air. Sounds like it's up and working! Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this happen!

Notes from club members:

Mike/KG4RKL suggested that we include a long count by each station on the weekly ARES net with some way of noting who heard what when listening on the repeater input, as a way of having regular updates for simplex availability. There's been some traffic on the members list about this, and we'll talk about it more during this month's meeting.

Emergency Communications

KO4ALA: nothing worth talking about

Old Business

WA4FXX: Virginia QSO Party a success- several members came in on Sunday 3/19 for a few hours and made some contacts. N8YSZ and KG4VNC operated portable as W4WVP/P on 3/18.

KG4VNC: Had fun, but it was COLD. Set up at Hogwallow Flats Overlook on Skyline Drive as planned. N8YSZ made 20+ contacts on 40m, KG4VNC made about 50 contacts on 2m FM. It was a lot of fun, maybe we'll get more participants next year... [Did I mention it was COLD? - Ed.]

WA4FXX- club application was put on web

W4ART: NERA event 2/26, nobody from club came

WA4FXX: W4ART was our representative (got a laugh)

W4ART: meeting was mostly about restructuring of the network. logs of noise, some of the solution will be making transmissions digital, also may resite DC station to Beltsville. There may also be a new site in Frederick.

WA4FXX: check the website at www.neradc.org

WA4FXX: any progress on formalizing the net script?

NW3V: asked for volunteers

KO4ALA: resending revisions

NW3V: Sim volunteered as NCS during summer when school is out.

WA4FXX: KA8OPJ still out of town so the club 440 antenna is still on hold. We found out during the VAQP that the Red Cross 440 antenna works fine.

New Business

WA4FXX: Start thinking about field day!

W4ART: Moving to Arlington- hsa 60 feet of Rohm tower free to a good home. TH7 antenna and others as well, must be gone by next month.

KG4VNC: Roy/AI4GO has antenna tuner, need to get his antenna up.

KI4DHW: Lew/WB6YGX provided truck, need to call Miss Utility.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 2040 local time.

Program

Dan Zeitlin/K2YWE came to talk about "Little Pistol" contesting.

Respectfully submitted,
