The September 18th meeting of the Arlington Amateur Radio Club will be held at the usual time (1930L) and place (4333 Arlington Blvd).
Paul Rinaldo from AARL will be coming to talk about what the league does to protect amateur frequencies, and how it does so.

Treasurer's report- Mike/KG4RKL gave report.
w4pwf- ARRL BOD mtg. more about regulation by bandwidth. will cool off for at least 6mos before doing anything. Will be up for discussion in january. one interesting thing that did happen- power company in lubbock, TX got cited- not just NAL- 44 violations that FCC inspector found. Will be interesting to see what happens. this is the first time this has happened. HP Maxim award went to somebody in Roanoke division.
ko4ala- how are they doing on new hams and upgrades
w4pwf- increases in membership- new hams coming in, more upgrades, league membership increasing. compared to years before where we were losing members, now we're gaining them
w4art- maybe explaining the process of frequency defence would help some.
wa4fxx- huricane season is coming, check your batteries, go kits, fod supplies, etc, etc
ki4dhw- had an interesting exercise with arlington county two weekends ago. Fou r people from radio club in exercise plus 75 arlington police, plus 75 rescue/eoc people. "Active shooter" scenario, like at VA tech- scenario written before Va tech shooting- looking at how fast they can react. Club members were victims . Their response was impressive. Hopefully we'll neer have to deal with it for real, but these people are well equipped to deal with it. Two more CERT classes coming up shortly.
wa4fxx- very worthwhile effort, you should look at taking the class either to be a resource or so you can take care of yourself
ki4dhw -doing interesting things, more drills coming up
aric-thw- everyone was very professional
ko4ala- VA ARES loking for how to get credentials. one thing they're proposing is a basic package, some coursework including first aid, disaster services, IS-100,200,700
wa4fxx- the section sent something around to everyone who passed AREC level 1 course about this
wa4fxx- arlington county fair- success! lots of folks were there. Thanks to everyone for working the fair. used ft-817- battery, indoor antenna, 2 ssb QSOs for NAQP on 40m.
field day- looked at logs list- looks like only entry in our category.
kr4mu- tape that held up antenna on front porch was left there- need to clean up after ourselves.
wa4fxx- no movement on power line noise
wa4fxx- 400th anniversary of VA- no movement, still thinking of fall
wa4fxx- Ki4dtp sent activity sheet on solar charger kg4rkl- two membership applications- people from last meeting- any questions, etc. MSP to approve their memberships.
ki4dtp- any movement on club patches?
kg4rkl- still haven't found good source for them- move to loan the banner to w4art so he can scan the artwork. SP
wa4fxx- CQ WW RTTY contest Sun Sep 30 11-4. will open the club station on Sunday
w4art- brougt a bunch of vhf/uhf fm rigs from an estate sale, see him after meeting. also still have racks or lead acid batteries
kg4rkl- met a schoolteacher, was interested in bringing classes by one evening to the club.
ko4ala- wa4bqm kerry kamp- works at naval observatory as astronomer- ham for 35 years, VWS member, will be speaking
wa4fxx- got email kc5ess@kc5ess.us- "nice website", "do you want to add site to my directory?"
nw3v- should look at website before committing
w4pdj- looked at our site- needs colors
ai4qb- glad to make sure people have logins so they can add documents/pictures/etc or want to change anything like colors, I just don't have time
