November 20 Meeting

The november 20th meeting of the Arlington Amateur Radio Club will be held at the usual time (1930L) and place (4333 Arlington Blvd).

We will be holding elections for club officers at this meeting, so it's very important that we get a quorum- come one, come all! (or _you_ might be the lucky write-in candidate!)

Minutes of the October 16, 2007 meeting.

Call to Order

President Jack/WA4FXX called the meeting to order at 1942L and welcomed all attendees. Introductions were made. Attending, besides FXX, were:

WA4FXX- Minutes publised on web- MSP to accept

KG4RKL gave treasurer's report.

Patches: art/w4art looking into id card design. Needs roster to make up badges

ARRL Report

dennis/w4pwf: as quiet as can be. not much going on. FCC not acting on petitions. Oct 23 making oral presentations to appellate court about BPL. Everyone has 20mins to argue point. Wilmer and Hale will argue it.

wa4fxx: any progress on capitol hill?

Gary/kc5qcn : was there when the arrl came down for show. park service and capitol police have lots of rules about where you can put things. Did winlink and HF-voice contacts.

Ken/wb4akk- encountered very noisy conditions that made comms difficult.

chuck/ki4dhw: has anyone heard of 5D grant?

wa4fxx: marine corps marathon coming up- check ncacdc.com for info. October 28th.

still in hurricane season, keep your gear and batteries ready

fairfax ran SET. we weren't able to figure out how to get activated

ian/ki4dtp- arlington chapter having drill, wanted to know if we want to have radio portion to test with them. Opening shelter at local church and taking clients in. Nov 3. Mt Olivet. 930-1400L.

Old Business

wa4fxx- several folks showed up for rtty round up- nomic worked well. Made a good number of contacts. Jack, Ken, Bob, Gary all were there.

400th anniversary- still haven't heard any interest

jota- don't have room, nobody had interest

nw3v- haven't written letter to fdlog people

New Business

next contest: arrl phone ss/Sun Nov 18th. 1000-1600L

elections next month, looking for interested volunteers

george/kr4mu 81st bday tomorrow- congratulations to George!

mike/kg4rkl at camporee, had radio with jpole antenna up, did night time 9pm-2am communications show including flash morse

wa4fxx- if anyone wants to do a project, let me know so we can talk about it
