Minutes/Treasurer

The minutes of the December 2007 meeting were approved, after two things are added which were left out: W4ART noted that there were two motions carried, one to remove the club dues from the bylaws, and the second was to change the dues to $10 per annum.

The Treasurer gave his report. Dues were overdue and were collected at the meeting.

ARRL news

Dennis W4PWF- going to Houston, TX tomorrow for board mtg. Air Force still having problems with 440 repeaters interfering with PAVE PAWS system, has told ARRL about it. ARRL turned to FCC to intermediate since this is the second batch and some of them don't exist anymore.

Paul Rinaldo is going to retire as CTO for ARRL. Search committee looking for replacement. Nothing new on regulation by bandwidth.

Emergency Management

Jim K9AUC New info sheet for Red Cross (provided). For last three years used pie pan for ground plane on go kit antennas. Now using gangbox covers instead.

Echolink on Sunday night. Red Cross commercial radios that weren't too popular are back in fashion. Red Cross freqs are good for NVIS. Red Cross don't want hams to cover Health and Welfare traffic- this should go to net control stations. In emergency they want local ham to go to control rooms and use 4742 radio.

Interesting to hear two National Weather Service stations passing traffic using amateur call signs over Echolionk.

Old Business

WA4FXX- good time at RTTY round-up. One scout and one leader. Room reserved for CQ WW RTTY contest- February 10 Sunday. Repeater- W4ART- had meetin about repeater. N8YSZ offered use of xcvr to bring rprt back up. W4ART put in bid for motorola radio. Will change call sign to W4WVP with trustee's approval. Looking into red cross ownership of hardware, looking into liability insurance info. NERA will help take care of system in exchange for using site for remote antenna site.Intent is to pull out tube xmitter as soon as we can, will try to repair it. Don't know where all the remote sites are. Randy WB4MJF knows where all the sites are, put up all the antennas. GLB id'er is putting out call sign. Need to approach TMARC- heard from Hugh- asked about what's in the database.
